Perspex glass protectors

I find a lot of rear windows break at this time of year. Plus frameless doors.

My theory it that they are stressed at the hinge and latch points, and especially at the gas strut attachment points, and temperature variations tips the balance and they grenade.

I had the rear window of the Same grenade when power harrowing once, and there was almost certainly no stone strike involved. It was a hell of a bang and glass all down my back and in my hair and literally everywhere.
Also had one go while it was parked up at the top of my yard. No way was it struck by anything. Just found it broken mid-morning one day.

How do they stand up to a couple of feet of mud?

They are fixed on tight with bungee straps but ultimately if I'm in ground soft enough to be in that deep in mud when hedge cutting I shouldn't be there?
Unless you are thinking for another application?
They definitely wouldn't break anyway

Not yet, need to get some stand-off's to increase the mounting height of the sheet to clear it over the wiper arm.

Mine arrived the other day, suction is very good but my worry is the little metal stud might pull out of the rubber when used repeatedly on and off over a period of time, there's a wee tab to pull to aid pulling them off but it's hard to get at when the sheet covers over.

These are the ones I bought

Look the part for hedge cutting ops ok though.

This is what you need

Lots of companies out there doing armoured glass, probably heavy, probably pricey but at least it won't scratch like all the plastic versions do.
Be an interesting exercise to what a piece would cost for the size required.
Tractor makers are missing a trick, bullet proof glass as standard fitment on one side of a tractor would not add much to the cost of say a £60k tractor?permanent fix .

Might be wrong but the weight and thickness of bullet proof glass might be the limiting factor?

Yes full bullet proof glass is very thick & of course heavy, but if we're been honest it wouldn't need to be full spec bullet proof, just strong ballistic glass would suffice.

I think so as well & I don't even think full spec bullet proof glass would be required. Just a good ballistic glass capable of stopping stones or perhaps mower blades, I know a guy who was using a grasshopper drum mower years ago when a blade broke off & came through the back window, fortunately flew past his head & struck the front corner frame of the cab ! He wouldn't use the machine again. Bullet proof glass would stop that in its tracks. As I say it wouldn't need to be as thick as the glass designed to stop high velocity rifle bullets, a much lesser grade would be fine to stop stones etc.
Be interesting to know what the costs would be.
