you could simply ditch the rear window and get marguard replacement fitted
we do it with new fendt 939's for mulcher work and have done for 15 years now
wiper, struts etc etc works as normal and its the same as looking through the glass if you don't go too thick
plant glazing at perth do ours and it works well
just need to watch that wiper is not operated in dry weather when window is caked in mud- clean with pressure washer and it will last 6000hrs no problems

Thanks new glass is in it now. How much was the Margard coated polycarb. cut/drilled etc to suit from your plant glaziers? Is is simply a thick(er) flat sheet, or is it formed like the original glass with a bulbous section?

with regards to margard, can they shape it to match the concave profile of most tractor doors and windows on tractors? I noticed the margard on forestry equipment like harvesters etc is flat.
Yes exactly, that's why I was curious about @DGC1 post, especially using it as a full window / door replacement. The back window has a bubble/curve in it, could probably replace it with flat piece - but the main door - not a chance.

Had a look online and found that there is a formable (think bike windscreens) and non-formable (flat) version of so called MR5e Lexan with the Margard coating (there are around a dozen types of Margard). The price is eye watering against standard poly though.

I notice it's dirt cheap if bought from the states, it's in the couple of hundred quid range per sheet as opposed to this country, but then there's two obstacles - shipping, taxes/duty, and forming and shaping into bubble Windows to suit. There is a British made equivalent on Google, it sounds to me as if the coating is similar to that on spectacles, as no polycarbonate is totally abrasion resistant. There is no mention of cost, or wether it can be made to match any type of vehicle glazing. The other issue is how far do you take it? Fit what is essentially bullet proof glass to half or 3/4 of your cab, what about the rest of it? I think a Kevlar cab cladding, or armour plate on the back of the drivers seat would be a necessary item to reduce risk. Of wire shrapnel hitting vital organs. Ott? Depends what you're doing. In nearly a decade and a half of Hedgecutting, I'm still surprised at what potential mother of all feck ups that happen, I'm still learning daily . As far as tractor guard products go, they're really good, but do have a limited working life. The shotgun tests are pointless IMO, they shouldn't sell it as bullet proof, or if they truly believe it, guard up a tractor and shoot it with a 12 bore, I think when it's on a tractor it is rigid, and more suseptible to penetration by shot, as opposed to when they just shoot a sheet up against a wall, it's floppyness when not installed in my opinion absorbs the shot impact more effectively. Shoot it with a federal 3 1/2" mag turkey shell , I guarantee it'd go through.

Another thing to think about is if you were theoretically able to glaze your cab with this impact resistant glass, how do you get out, or are got out in the event of a roll over or crash? Say you leave the r/h door locked as you don't enter exit through it, and land on your left? You'd be focked.
