How practical would it be to remove the fuel tank from an ancient Manitou MB26PC?

Tank outlet is blocking starving the fuel pump. I doubt simple agitation and draining will do the job. Tempting to rig an auxiliary fuel supply as it is currently stuck in the middle of my yard:-(

For future, within your post use the @sign and then the users name. this is called Tagging someone in on a thread and will send them a notification. like this @ACEngineering. not sure it will work with your own user name because you already have the @ sign in it :scratchhead:

Anyway, no idea as not removed one on that model, closest i have done would be a MB 426 cp, has to cut the bottom of the tank out and weld a new piece in as was full of rust pit holes. I suspect yours will need doing the same. It was easy to remove tank on this model but not sure how similar yours will be.

Years of condensation forming on the tank walls causes the bottom to rust out.

Thanks for that. I suspect you are correct about the rust. My thinking was to get it off for steam cleaning.

My experience of French engineering is excellent for innovation but poor on practicality.

I'm retired so it is not doing much work. Auxiliary tank might be way forward rather than just getting off the yard and into a dry workshop!

Tagging! I grew up with *usenet* but will try:)

It's a long while since I heard from you - Usenet days, when I collected the feed barriers (which are still in use but the troughs have had it)
Indeed. We had a week in Blakeney '22. I thought of you as we drove up from Thetford. My remaining barriers are still in occasional use but the troughs have rotted despite galvanized steel inserts. The old cattle shed has long gone. The steel frame barn built on the site is now 4 houses under part Q! The farmhouse was sold and we now live across the road in what was my sister's bungalow.
uk.d.i.y is my only newsgroup now.
