Have 1 plate cooler that works of an ice builder with dx tank. Am looking to put in an industrial plate cooler with well water help in the cooling as ice builder is small for amount cows (270).
Should I discard the original plate cooler and get a 2 stage? Or put the new industrial plate cooler in first in milk line and would this lead to cleaning problems

A two stage plate cooler will be fairly hefty money. You could simply pick up a secondhand plate cooler an run one for well water and one for ice bank.

Not wanting to be to rude how come it has taken this long to add well water cooling which makes the first 15 degrees of cooling quite close to free.

If you're looking for a plate cooler contact Uk exchangers LTD, very competitive on price and where many Parlour manufacturers source them at a fraction of the cost. Purchased a single stage to go along with an existing one 2 years ago 52 plate running on 50mm water pipework

When we moved parlour we had no well just mains and the IB was working well for amount of cows. After it was down to ignorance and procrastination in that order.

Is your system well water+IB on 2 separate plate coolers? If so any issues with TBC and water temperature is it getting the milk down too?

Initially using well water in a 30,000 litre water tank with a circulation pump running constantly during milking that brought temperature down to around 16 degrees. Added the ice builder 52 plate cooler and milk enters tank at 4 degrees, bulk tank hardly kicks in. Ice builder only runs on night rate electricity

We just put in a 16/32.
I bought two tidy used plate coolers. First one does borehole water that goes to volume washer storage plus a drinking trough and second uses iced water from a Fullwood ice bank tank, which is my buffer tank now, and builds ice on economy 7.
Milk hitting tank at 4 degrees.
Would you mind saying how much you payed for them? Currently selling parts off our old parlour. Got someone wanting the plate cooler but its one of the few parts I wouldn’t have a clue what its worth. Its a tidy 40 plate alfa laval

I've been buying old dairycool plate coolers off eBay to make mine bigger, over the 5 or 6 I've bought I think I've paid about £3 a plate for them.
