Why in modern agronomy is the Instant reaction to any problem to kill it. Shouldn’t we be building balanced systems that prevent issues in the first place?
Well yes. But you have to deal with what is in front of you on the day too.
(Not saying these pollen beetles should be sprayed before anyone bites my head off)

But do you ? Why hasn’t not using insecticides bankrupt me yet ?
The point I’m making is that yes sometimes you have to deal with today not just insecticides. Eg 1 spray Mn may save a crop but longer term with zero till and better biology might not need it but no good saying I’m improving soils and losing a crop in the mean time. I admire your insecticide achievement and am cutting use here steadily. Did you go cold turkey or gradually reduce? It would be interesting if you were a beet grower and were coping with byv this year.
