Was wondering if anyone has tried making an aerairon device to push under a heap of grain with a load all.
Vented some how to suck or blow air through grain.
Any ideas ?

I have been thinking the same thing, long spear with perforated point with a set of brackets to push in would be good I reckon, always find front of heap is hard to aerate as pedestals always seem to be in wrong place

We made our own out of perforated 12inch twin wall and 6 inch osma soil pipe. We made the end plates out of 3/4 ply.
It took us an afternoon to make a dozen or so and the materials only cost what one of the fancy poly pipe???? Or whatever they're called would have.

I'll get some pictures in the morning, theyve lasted 5 years and if you do twit one with the loadall it's not the end of the world.

By all means try pushing into a heap but just tipping the grain onto the pipe is a lot easier and the pipe doesn’t need to be very strong. Drainage pipe isn’t expensive so we laid enough out before we filled the shed. Leave them spaced wide enough apart to allow a trailer or loader bucket to get between them. That’s more than adequate for a bit of low volume conditioning. As said above you need a non perforated pipe (soil pipe) at the front of the heap otherwise the air all leaks out where the pipe isn’t covered by any depth of grain. Use a small centrifugal blower about 1 hp or so.

To be honest I don’t bother now if it’s dry and haven’t had a claim yet. If it’s wet it goes through the dryer and cooler anyway.

Good idea in principle though. Just a bit much clat now I’m getting older.

Very interesting - please put up those pictures as I'm planning to make some myself.

How much are the proper bought ones, seem to remember them been expensive for what they are. Think mine cost £15ish in materials and an hour Of my labour. So £15.99 in total.
99p an hour? Luxury. No wonder you drive a Mercedes and live in a penthouse.

Robbie, how have you fixed the plates on the bottom.?
They have got a round piece of ply wood glued/screwed to the square base and the pipe sits over it and is screwed together throught the side of the pipe.

Some have lost there bases and still work fine, there just not as stable until you get cor around them but are easier to remove when loading out.
