We fed one years ago. About as high as my knee at the time. He did grow and we did send him off to a fatting unit or kill. Can't remember now. That was a holstein bull calve.

Give it a go! We’ve had lots of success with prem calves, often find they have a bit more fight in them! May be quiet for first few days but once it can get to it’s feet (if it can’t already) there’s no stopping them!

Always feed!
I'm not one for killing a New born unless it's a welfare issue.

A 7 month calf will often have a better chance than an 8 month calf.
I'd give it a very LA antibiotic and some steroid to help it's lungs develop.

Ps. Careful what you say publicly, you calf is notifiable.

Sold a 8 week early blue heifer last Saturday at market, she looked no different than her mates at 24 months, but was way too friendly ? , as had my 5 year niece given it extra hugs ?????

Is that title really necessary?
Do your best by it, it won’t be long before you’ll know.
I read the the as to WHAT to feed it, not whether to bother to feed it.
Get some colostrom in to , little but often.
Good luck with it, hope she makes it. Would make a good PR story.

vet said the steroid will help but will affect milk uptake in gut .the other thing to watch is blood glucose level ,but we can not control this .she is no standing yet gone to tube feeding as to reduce any to get to lungs
