i have fransgaurd 390 grass turner, the bearing has failed on the end of shaft on the short drive shaft into the gearbox the one that the pto clicks onto ,have dropped off the rotor, got of the cog of the shaft , got out the shaft and bearings from the housing of the machine,Have managed to put the two new bearings back . Next is the shaft to push in through the bearings which i put back in which are in the casting of machine .
I have frozen the shaft over night sprayed that with freezer spray on it before trying to get it to go through, heated the machine casting to heat the bearings, but absolutely no chance of it going in. How do you press these shafts in when the machine obliviously can not be put in a press , was thinking to take the shaft to somebody with a lathe and take it down a bit?, don,t want to spend a fortune on it as it is fairly ripe, but against that if i did not have it a replacement would no doubt be a fair wack of money any thoughts on it?
Have tried jack against something solid but very difficult to get close enough with mounting linkage in the way.can not get it in line enough ,tried with large rod between jack and front of the weight frame on a tractor but can not get it lined up straight enough to work, got to the point of thinking milling the shaft might be only way without spending a fortune
