First time I ever came across him was in my former career in 96 as an engineer he had a wee white valmet 6400 and it had a crane on the spreader as well . He's had a few case tractors now they must do land speed PTO
He’s a canny fella , he absolutely buried his ontop onmy hill in 90s took some getting out lol 😂 ‘twas a good set up he had then , he must get sick of dropping that spreader off mind but ... difficult carry on

I only saw him do 1 load and he's pretty quick but he's had plenty practice :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

If the lime business is quite susceptible to being curtailed due to the weather, could Pete look to do other work with his kit or find something to go behind it? Apologies if this has been discussed already or if Pete already does this, he may have mentioned what other services he is involved in or what other kit he has.
I'd pay to have a drive of the xerion

You laugh how many go on "tractor rides" be ace to get to drive one

I've done:

Car racing experiences
Plane and hot air balloon flight experiences
Drive a tank experience voucher sat here ready to book
Planning to do steam train experience

Dad's done a traction engine experience

All very popular indeed at anywhere £100-£300+ for half a day. I'm sure tractors, combines etc. would all do well.

The downside is that you're trying to do an important job at the time and it's a critical machine. Most other experience days cater for that day in day out and the vehicle in question never really has to "perform" and carry out a productive task with tight and unpredictable weather windows.

I don't know enough about Pete's location, is there any mileage in getting involved in the muck or sewage job?

For the majority of sludge contracts with the likes of Thames Water and Yorkshire Water etc you have to tender to what they want, they usually specify how many tons per day capacity you will need and a maximum age of your machines. That’s why O.J Neil etc have fleets of new Vredo’s.
It’s not a case of buying an old spreader and off you go.

Not sure about the rest of the country but round here it’s rare to see more than two lorry load in a heap, so probably as quick to load with a loader as keep putting loader on and off trailer etc?
Yes , variable rate has not helped seen a 50 acre field the other week with 56 ton sitting lol good for farmer not so for contractor .

The ontop nearly killed him when he rolled it, his wife made him promise not to repair it!
One of the reasons is that to run a land drive spreader you need a ground speed PTO which isn’t an option on a lot of modern CVT tractors now.
Thats the reason he runs case tractors, they can do him land drive, not sure about cvt though. He also has a different axle on the spreader.
