Protech valve block

I’ve got a protech post knocker that I need to convert to closed centre for use on an old John Deere. I’m assuming I’ll need a plug or two but there’s no names other than protech on the block. I’ve had plugs off a TFF member before for another machine but I can’t remember his name! Cheers

Looks like its some kind manifold based Cetop valve, so to convert to closed centre for the John Deere, you would I believe have to convert all 6 valves individually.

First I would try calling Protech they may keep a conversion kit on the shelf if your lucky.

Why change it. My protec works perfectly fine on my Deutz with closed center hydraulics. Just a slow feed from spool valve and return via the power beyond return. The hydraulic arms work ,so does the loader all the same time as oil pumping through post driver. Oil stays very cool all day. The only problem I had when I first got protec was oil heating up because return line was through spool valve, but putting it back to transmission via power beyond return pipe. No problems since.

I’ll try protech but last time I rang about something I couldn’t get an answer for days!

On thé old John deere 40 series if the blocks not converted it rattles the hydraulics to pieces and gets hot because the internal pump can’t keep up with the main pump

That took some reading! The valve block looks the same as the one I have, but I have two six lever blocks as also have hydraulic legs and weight, so my rock spike is one of the six on the second block. So no dedicated valve to change, I already have a free flow return to the hand brake plug. My knocker works ok, I just don’t want to destroy my tractor hydraulics. I’ve tagged @Ukjay to see if he did find a soloist ion in the end. Cheers

Hi,

Basically my issue stemmed from two things. First after a lot of back and forwards emails and photos to Protech, it was established I needed an alternative variation of independent valve for the Rock spike as the one suplied with the PN could not be modified allegedly, so ordered it and it came with an additional plug to modify it to work with the JD (it was inserted into the port shown in one of the previous photos), then after more chasing. Fitting this still dodnt work, so back again to emails and photos - whereupon I was sent a photo of another of the PN's in their yard - and it showed one of my pipes appearing to be fitted differently on my set up to one in the sent photo - so swapped it around to match the photo and all good.

Not sure this will help you though.

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
