How do you retrieve all the nails from the bottom of a load of ash though? I suppose a powerful magnet stuck to a piece of angle iron might work. Next year maybe offer them two small bales and some diesel and insist the fire is entirely from natural timber and brash?

It’s all on rented ground, I did say to all the landlords that not to burn pallets. But that message must have been over looked.

Built ours with storm blown timber/hedges, they needed tidied up and burnt anyway so just been going around for a few weeks picking it all up then built it on Wednesday morning and lit at 945 Thursday night, had @120 people from local parish there with food and drink, hardly anything left on Friday morning
