Question for Minette

I asked the question about how I ask her a question. Was told no need to pre submit.
Yea, but I had just finished moaning to them about no SFP yet and how un helpful they are with bridging loans, (not avalible till April) so maybe I'm not the best one to stand up and voice my thoughts un vetted.

Ask her why RT ,just to justify themselves, add more and more regulations each year some of which is laughable. When will the extra bureaucracy end so we can ,eventually, pull our boots on and do some work.
Perhaps, also,Jerry you could ask her if the NFU ever complain about biased, manipulative BBC reporting on,however you voted,Brexit and especially on Veganism and dear Beeb's determination to report on anything anti meat and ignore any scientific studies on its benifts.I've heard frightening reports of the BBC interviewing lots of people but only televising the ones that suit their agenda. It is a worrying trend and they seem beyond criticism.

Thought of another question, apart from does she want to swap jobs with Mrs May.......

... if TFF removed the Oooohhh thread, would the NFU contribute more on here, rather than just read it all and dismiss the several thousand members as unworthy ?

that was the best excuse I ever heard from Guy ! our moderation policy is to the same standards / limits as Facebook and Twitter where they do participate so not a very consistent or joined up approach to social media it seems

Bloody hell!!!!! My oooohhhhh thread stops the NFU taking TFF seriously?? Really?

For those that are bothered, I apologise.

For those that aren’t, sod ‘em. I guess my dog trump question to Ms Batters probably wouldn’t be appreciated either then!

No wonder I never get anywhere in life. I obviously don’t take it seriously enough.

I would loose no sleep Pete ! it's just a poor excuse that Guy made - totally inconsistent when our moderation policy allows nothing on that thread that you cant see on Facebook or Twitter

Don’t see many of those as a sheep farmer on Romney Marsh !

Minette doesn’t look so attractive now. No wonder the NFU wants the thread banned ....

they should get off facebook and twitter then as well - FAR worse on there, and that's before you start to consider some of the far right stuff that is all over FB quite often, there is no nudity on FB as is also the case on TFF, we allow that one thread to run in the off topic section to avoid such stuff getting posted on other threads etc.

Is GUTH now that notorious we should all chip in a quid and have a TFF T shirt printed with the GUTH moniker printed on it??

A stage managed meeting with anyone is a cop out and an indication they arent interested in the truth from the horses mouth- that is a joke and I would never bother to attend, they must think the superstar factor of these NFU chiefs is enough to wow people. Fudge that, someones stage persona is not always connected to the reality, someone who talks the talk might not have a clue about walking the walk if you get my drift.

I see there's pretty open invites to meet her, from regional office in the 'in-tray'.
But whats the point?
My much beloved went to her at one of the summer shows last year (about NFU support for EID), and was just fobbed off.
We, apparently, know less about how our business works, and what will be good for it, than MB.
Talk of areas with no mobile reception/broadband led to swift change of subject.

2 questions
1) when is the NFU going to role out the next generation groups on a regional/county basis so that under 35's/young farmers/uni graduates can have a link into the NFU at a younger age without being moaned at/patronised by people who use meetings as their personal soap box.

2) many group secretaries are useless and have no issue in promoting farming as they claim to be far to busy with the mutual side. What can be done to overcome this disconnect between farmers and NFU county staff who are keen to promote farming, and group secretaries who have no interest in doing this. (FYI I've been my local branch chairman for 12 months, The previous group secretary who has moved on now said to me after I had been elected "I hope your not going to be one of those chairman who wants lots of meetings and makes me loads of work!"

"Why are the NFU failing so abysmally to get themselves on mainstream media and put the case for livestock as part of a sustainable food economy with regards the vegan bandwagon ?"

And where were the NFU when Jeremy Vine was giving the vegans air time again today?
If they are able to show me how they tried to get in on the act, and/or have formally complained that they can't get a word in, i'll be 'Happy'....otherwise i'm a different dwarf altogether.

Is there an actual tie up between the NFU and NFU mutual?? One is involved in flogging insurance and has no business involving itself in politics.
The only link is that the guy who is employed by the mutual for insurance also receives some money (I don't know the amount) to run the local branch as group secretary as otherwise they would have to employ someone else to do it. I don't think this works anymore. The direct employees of the NFU are excellent in my experience, the others? Not so much.

I've said it on here before, getting on the media is easy. In a mo I am going for my regular Thursday pint with my mate who is a producer on BBC news 24. He would be quite happy to give air time to the other side of the vegan debate - he does like his meat - but as he says the story needs to come to them. You can only conclude that the NFU aren't trying.
