Yesterday’s bodge. Keeping dads old Shogun on the road for him, MOT time, horn had stopped working, so thought I’d best investigate!
Traced it to a bad connection on the slip ring, it’s actually worn the contactor off! Wouldn’t touch the ring....

so....found a couple of M5 brass nuts, soldered them together

Drilled a hole in the middle just over half way...

and hey presto! Sits on the contactor just right.

Old trick was to put a separate button into the dashboard - not sure if it's a technical fail now though.

Not sure how well photo will come out but botched a bendy overhead jib to dangle a 13a plug socket and an airline anywhere in workshop. 3 sets of hinges to let it bend almost 360 degrees.
40mm box section throughout, obviously.

I'll admit to new cable ties.

A handy thing to have, I must rig an airline onto my workshop jib

Anyone got a small jib crane for lifting small bits n pieces, thinking about building something here but not sure what to go for!
Probably not what you're thinking but this is my skyhook.

Today's bodge. Reclaimed 7x2.5 timber, thrice used tin sheets, lost count of the number of times the plywood has lived.

All to stop the north wind. I still can't find second hand tec screws as often as I use them so tecs were new. :(
Waiting for a mate to find me a used pvc door and frame to go into middle board.
Next week's job (again) will be to get ready to concrete the floor.
Blue poly pipe to right is water into outside loo.
Other blue poly pipe, top right, is airline. Not to loo. ;)

I have that exact same set up running on the loft beam but I looking for something that will cover more of the workshop, was thinking of hinging a horizontal RSJ from the middle RSJ in the shed and having a leg down with a Castor wheel on the bottom.I would be able to swing it back against the wall then when not in use...

I know that this is a thread for cavaliers but don't forget Lola regs - all lifting gear needs inspecting every few months.

This is why I didn't put in a gantry in my workshop despite having all the gear given to me, I make things on a trailer/mobile bench and tow it or push it outside and turn things over with a loader.

I knew that everyone would be offended, however if you think that doing some things properly (like lifting things up) is too expensive try having an accident with bodged up gear.

Far from being offended, I think that many of us with an understanding of the rules and regulations, perform our daily work in ways which accommodate having to move things within the framework of the regulations. I do not habitually lift things in the course of our farm activity, but occasionally it is a requirement, so for me it is easiest to purchase lifting equipment that is suitable and being new, exempt from testing for a short period, thereby complying, and more importantly working in a safe manner.

I work in a paper mill on shifts as a fitter. Using lifting gear every day. The Zurich test guy is always in doing shackles chain blocks rackers and cranes etc etc. Have crack with him all the time. He always goes on about common sense. If you havnt got that then you want nowt using lifting gear!!!
