quick fixes, bodges and creations

Minor triumph with the tele handler door lock today, the lever had become so worn that it wouldn't release the catch without coming to the end of its travel, no obvious way of fixing the lever as its plastic, but a 6 inch nail with a 3mm hole drilled through fitted over the little spigot inside that releases the thing, topped off with the knob from my old class baler door (sold the baler in 1998, but knew the knob would come in handy one day) and a bit of araldite 5 minute to hold it on, and a bit of oak to keep the nail on the spigot. Works a treat.

Neighbour bought one or something very very similar a couple of years ago for around his paddock. Didn’t last 6months. Can’t remember what’s wrong with it but no back up from importer. Hideous to drive with the longest drive chain to the back axle I’ve ever seen. It is literally a quad bike with the back quarter cut off and the rest welded on. Even the seat has had a bit cut off and made good.

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
