The first valtra we got that they suggested pumping through spool valve (it’s actually pumped in through free flow return valve) came with a drum pump with a pipe, tap and qr coupling. It’s a lot easier and cleaner than messing with jugs and funnels.

That sounds more sensible, so long as the tractor is within hose reach of the oil drum. Sounds like the sort of thing that would be more practical on a production line though than on many farms.

Pump can fit on a 25ltr drum so easy to take drum to tractor

I was thinking about 200 litre drums that weren't so mobile. That is what most of our oil comes in.

I guess the oil could still be bought in big barrels and then transferred into emptied 25 litre drums with pumps on.

Might I suggest a pump that could suck up the oil from the drain container under the tractor and deposit it into a suitable waste oil drum.

It had better be either the most Heath Robinson improvised pump we had ever seen or then used to pump clean oil back into the tractor.

Im thinking the old foot pump would work, have to be in a deep enough tub, so wear wellies....
