How long after a manganese spray would be ok to roll?
Sprayed 3 days ago, crop is reacting positively to the spray, if that's the case is it ok to now roll while there's a window?

Do you really have to roll it? Is it that rough, will the mower really suffer? Of course if there are obvious lumps of wood go and pick them up.

Is it tractor time and fuel put to good use? Do you really need the compaction?

Thought he was talking about grass...... long day!
Always helps to roll a crop deficient in manganese, and / or the combine harvester won’t like any stones if it’s not been rolled

Thought he was talking about grass...... been a long day!!

How low is the combine header cutting, must be big stones if they are going to be an issue?

I don't like rolling it if it's due to be frosty that week.
Tis done now!

Plenty of big stones here that if not rolled, would cause damage to a combine .
It doesn’t take a very big stone to cause downtime by breaking a section .
rolling after frost lift also helps rooting of the plant. Often a good rolling in the spring will improve a crop by encouraging the plant to tiller .

It's probably all in the mind - I'm rolling it to give it a good thrashing so it's probably not going to mind a bit of cold. Mines far too tacky to roll. Maybe in a fortnight.
I tried this morning and it stuck to the rollers a bit, there's been a keen wind today and it was much better this afternoon. Ordinarily I would wait but the crop is fairly forward and it gets difficult to work in with the spraying!
