Always helps to roll a crop deficient in manganese, and / or the combine harvester won’t like any stones if it’s not been rolledDo you really have to roll it? Is it that rough, will the mower really suffer? Of course if there are obvious lumps of wood go and pick them up.
Is it tractor time and fuel put to good use? Do you really need the compaction?

Are frosts an issue when rolling wheat/barley?
Tis done now!I don't like rolling it if it's due to be frosty that week.
You don't know how low your going to have to cut until harvest, by then it's too late!Thought he was talking about grass...... long day!
Thought he was talking about grass...... been a long day!!
How low is the combine header cutting, must be big stones if they are going to be an issue?
Plenty of big stones here that if not rolled, would cause damage to a combine .Thought he was talking about grass...... long day!

I tried this morning and it stuck to the rollers a bit, there's been a keen wind today and it was much better this afternoon. Ordinarily I would wait but the crop is fairly forward and it gets difficult to work in with the spraying! It's probably all in the mind - I'm rolling it to give it a good thrashing so it's probably not going to mind a bit of cold. Mines far too tacky to roll. Maybe in a fortnight.
