Sale of dairy cows via livestock markets banned

I assume you guys/ gals have heard by now that ALL sales of dairy cows via markets have been banned..

Also all sales of beef breeding stock and sheep breeding stock sales via the markets have been banned as well.

Is this every market in the country or just certain ones ? have some suckler cows and calves to go into malton next week, well maybe ?

presumably this will stop dispersals going ahead, those that have a planned one, in place, really feel sorry for them, having had to take the hard decision to sell, and then to be stopped, with the risk of tb, must be awful.

Organic sale in wales now private treaty.

TB test time restrictions are biggest issue

they should be able to sell private, there will still be folk that are keen to buy with none in the markets
 
Why have dairy and breeding stock sales been suspended?
Store and calf sales still going ahead, what is the difference, this is a human not animal problem.
They need to keep cattle being finished so the public have a conveyor belt of food, sales of breeding stock can be delayed and not have too much effect...... unless it's your breeding stock

More to do with the amount of buyers present I think.

Take couple's, Those lambs will be ready in say 3 months yet it could be 12+ month for a stirk and 2+ years for a calve to enter the food chain.

Kivells have one booked in for next week, last I heard they were trying to get Defra to allow it to go ahead.

Hard on the vendor thou as even if it does go ahead he/she will not be allowed into the market to see them sold.
