Scotland beef efficiency scheme

Hardly likely to be a big issue this scenario though is it?

A pretty paltry payment over 3 years is hardly likely to attract many people to go into a scheme thinking if I go into this then scale back by 75% then I'm a real clever chap that's worked the system!

I certainly wouldn't be using the beef efficiency scheme as my clincher on whether to expand or reduce numbers by drastic amounts either way.
You would not do it deliberately but if the timing was right to get £3000 a year when due to downsize be daft not to take it. Like historical payment of SFP it is locking an industry into production which occurred years ago. And we call for support for new entrants?

Did any other participants in this scheme get 3 emails on the 7/12 with the first one listing almost 200 email addresses of participants in the scheme. The email was informing us that the calves have now been selected for tagging. 2nd email was same as first but without the email addresses. 3rd email was an apology about including the list of participants email addresses in the 1st email and that they take our privacy seriously. A bit late for that!

Does anyone know what genomic tests they are going to do on the samples. Many many option of tests that could be done but nobody seems to know what they are testing for.

We have had approx 21% of the calf's born in the first half of the year selected for tagging. We are still to update the autumn born calving data (Got until middle of January to do so). We haven't sold any of these yet.
