Scraper tractor issue

Our scraper tractor, Ford 4000, might be a 4600🤔 has a hydraulic foible
If it is facing uphill the arms don't always lift up, unless the clutch is lifted and brake pedal pressed, the incline doesn't have to be much, and it never happens when facing downhill
There's plenty of oil in it
Thoughts anyone?

Also posted in machinery, but I thought seeings as it doesn't have twin tosspot lights it might get ignored

Not familiar with these old crates, but sounds like an oil suction pipe fault, it has either fractured or broken off inside backend, and when facing downhill oil will be below pipe fracture or where its broken off, yet letting the clutch out will give movement of oil from gears spinning, and enough for the pipe end to slurp a bit of oil the work hydraulics intermittently, seem to remember they have an aux hydraulic pump on bell housing above the clutch pedal, driven off the flywheel, so there must be a pick up pipe into the box, and that is where I think the problem will be
However I have never been in a frod gearbox, so could be wrong

Try fitting twin beacons
Bound to work then

Did these not have separate oil for the back end/hydraulics, or was that just the early ones?
Easy way to check, hook up to a tipping trailer, tip trailer up a bit say half way and pull dipstick again, there would be none on the dipstick if it's shared oil, I don't think it is.
