What are people’s plans for drilling after spring barley. With most of the farm in with spring barley this year our rotation is out of the window, it will be followed with winter barley and winter wheat. There are plenty of heads on the ground so there will be a lot of volunteers. Would liked to of ploughed but there is no way I could cover enough ground and get drilling done. Even if we can spray them out(in wheat) with Atlantis in spring. Will they smother the crop over winter. Won’t have time for a very good stubble chit either.

Good question , I'm a bit worried and I'm ploughing them under .

I would avoid a situation where you are relying on Atlantis to remove any amount of barley from wheat. In my experience it is never as successful as you need it to be.

Of course, if you were to spray a barley crop with Atlantis by accident it would all be dead edge to edge.

Plough what you can and what doesn't get done just tickle and put into spring barley or beans?

If your following sp barley with winter I wouldn't worry too much about the volunteers.

You'll be surprised how the stubbles will green up with barley if just left and then round up pre drilling.
I plan to put the Pigtail through mine once or twice and then see what things look like nearer the time and then decide weather to plough or just work down and drill.
