Seeking metal detecting permission near South Oxfordshire

I took up metal detecting about a year ago and have become really passionate about this as a hobby that connects the physical experience of being outdoors with the mental stimulation of identifying my finds. During this time I only went metal detecting with a club as I didn't have my own permission nor do I have a farm (yet), but because of the covid restrictions there are no organised digs anymore and I would like to obtain a permission to detect somewhere near South Oxfordshire (Berkshire/Buckinghamshire). I have insurance as a member of the NCMD and I will obviously leave everything tidy and remove all trash. I will also photograph all finds, log them with the PAS and show to the landowner and in case anything of value would be found split 50/50 with the landowner. Although I should add that I am far more interested in the archaeological side rather than the prospect of finding treasure. In case I could get permission close to where I live on land with little trash and not too intensively detected on before, I would consider paying up to 500 pounds for the privilege. Please send me a message if you would be interested or have any questions. Thanks!

Even if you only have a small paddock or if I can only detect around the edges of a cultivated field, I would be really happy to spend my daily exercise metal detecting. As a landowner, you can only benefit from it, even if nothing valuable is found!
Thanks!

Its not a permitted form of exercise under the current Lockdown.

I didn't know that detecting alone in your local area is not permitted either. It is rather sad that. I personally cannot see the risk in doing so.

There is no additional virus related risk, I mean.
There is quite a lot of farmland within walking distance, but mostly it would require a short drive, yes, but not more dangerous than driving to the supermarket. But reversing the argument, staying at home full time is not without risk too...

Every non essential journey starts a chain of events and unnecessary contact.
You get in the car & pop in the petrol station for fuel & a some snap.
You get to the field & open the gate.
You go detecting & find a hoard or UXB.
You break down on the way home.

Had you stayed at home none of the above happen.
It is people seeking loop holes that contribute to the problem.

Just wait a few weeks.

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.
