Today is nothing really to do with farming, but I thought it was as good a place as anywhere to put some photos...

Mrs S and I had a ride out to the David Brown Tractor Club museum at Meltham today, quite literally opposite the factory that used to build DB Tractors. There was a open day of their museum and a auction of all things DB, brought in by various members, auctioned off to others.

Well, when I got there I saw a tractor, and ended up buying it at the auction, a David Brown 1212, very similar to our own that is awaiting a head gasket at the moment.

I saw it, and fell in love with the thing, thinking that it was a very tidy, well kept, original thing. At the auction, I ended up buying it!!

Because I'm a sadcase on an industrial scale, I could not help but drive it over to the factory carpark to take a few photos. The building is obviously nothing to do with the tractors any further, the buildings now house various businesses, including a heat treatment company, who built their business on the skills gained while DB ran the show.

I assume that it is 43 years since this old girl drove through these gates... I wonder what will have happened in the next 43 years...?

That's a credit to its previous owner

I remember going round that factory sometime in the 1970's.

For a moment there I thought you were going to say, "I could not help but drive it home"

I trust she'll be arriving on a low loader:scratchhead:

Well. I don't know where to start. First question is how come your wife went to a tractor museum with you and how come she didn't stop you from an impulse purchase?!

I know how to treat a woman, me! Imagine her excitement when she got to have a day out to her favourite tractor museum, and some chilli, cheese and chips while there!

Im fairness, she is very good in letting me spend my money, because I'm a bit of a tightarse, it usually takes persuading for me to open my wallet, rather than the other way round!

Looks a well cared for tractor. Could you not ask some of the plant/machinery firms in the area if they could bring it home on a return load; seems to me there are several local firms in the Denbigh/Ruthin area who are always on the road with lorries fetching and taking out tractors and plant equipment?

Really? I'm thinking it about 2500kg ? I would like a Q cab tractor for road runs that's light enough to go on trailer

1212 according to the book weighs 3050kg, I brought my 1210 4WD home on a trailer behind my LR110 once, that was some journey!!

Impossible, you simply don't have enough implements

Plenty of implements for what I need, and still a tractor for every job!!

How heavy is the like of a 1394 ? I didn't think they would even be 3000 kg
All I do know is there is a heck of a difference between mf 35 on a trailer compared to the 65
Edit, I just googled, 65 about 2000 kg !
