Sheep drinkers

I’m hoping to use an old cattle shed and silage pit to house some ewes in the next week or so. The water tanks are knackered and too big and high anyway so going to rig something up for sheep. Thinking something small like bowl drinkers but have heard bad things about them forever leaking. I was just wondering what other folks had found to work well for sheep. Cheers.

JFC 20gal twin sided tank like I now install in the fields. Pallet cut to shape to fit over the centre of the water tank so hurdles run off it separated 2 pens

Iv got fisher Alvin steel drinkers in my polytunnel this year after loosing 3 lambs in water troughs last year… they’re perfect and don’t leak… but sheep do seem too flick a lot of water out of them

As said by @twizzel the JFC micro bowls are a great drinker but have been known to leak. This is caused by too high inlet pressure they have a fix with a useless wee dick of a plastic float set up, don't use this set up not fit for purpose . The problem is with all mains drinkers is that water pressure increases at night when there is no demand and it causes them to leak. What we have had good results with is the JFC micro bowl used throughout the sheep house and we stuck a PRV (pressure reducing valve) on the main feed into the shed set at about two bar and have never had a leak.

I find those JFC micro bowls so easy to clean - just put a rubber glove on (COLD water here!) and flick it out into a bucket - only takes a few seconds and so easy. ^^^^^^ above 2 tips about pressure are useful - we can some times have a bit of bother with those without a header tank ( it reduces the pressure).

Use the same, supplied from an IBC fed by roof rainwater (or topped up with mains if it doesn't rain)
Put breeze blocks in tank to stop lambs attempting suicide.

I’ve got the tank split to feed each 45’ bay. Pallet ontop then hurdle onto the bale feeder then another swinging hurdles the other side for access bringing ewes out.
I put blocks under to stop lambs being able to jump in

Just wondering how you get the bale in the ring feeder or is it just 2 45'bays?
It’s just a 90x25 shed with doors one end. We push all the sheep down to the bottom end. Put bale in then open it back up for them. Shed is split in 2 at the feeder so it’s a much smaller pen for catching ewes in.

Thanks for all the replies- very interesting. We are on a borehole- then gravity fed from a tank at the top of a steep hill. It’s fair pressure but nothing like mains I don’t think.
