Around 1.2m squared depending on ewe size, so 115 x 40ft shed would just be enough.... But then you have to decide on room for small pens, walk through troughs, round bale feeders etc etc

1.2 square m on straw and 0.7 or 0.8 on slats, lots of feed space very important, I put plastic slats into an existing shed this summer, only finished last week, opening up the sides for more feed space for tmr

[QUOTE="Stw88, post: 7058656, member: That looks smart. Will you have to lift the slats to muck it out?

Lovely job. How wide is it and how did you support slats in the middle? Are you gonna knock out the walls and put in a feed rail on outside? Would be a super spot for finishing lambs

Thanks, the pens are 25 foot wide, theres a spine wall up the centre of each tank with a beam at either end, then theres runners going from either wall that the slats sit onto , the outside walls are panels so shouldnt be too hard to lift out, might feed at the ends as well, it will be used for housing lambs to finish and housing ewes from Christmas to march to save grass for lambing, will be a massive saving on straw and no winter grass being taken again

Super job and no messing lifting slats. Will you run a canopy out over the feed face on the sides to keep the feed dry?

Looking at putting a new shed up for lambing and was wondering what size would be needed for lambing 350 sheep cheers daz
We house 350 ewes in 10, 30' x 15'9'' bays. Meal fed in walk through troughs between the bays and silage fed along the front, bedded with a teagle straw chopper, Our shed is open sided therefore the shed would be 160ft×30ft with an 8ft canopy, separate shed used for lambing pens.
