Silage trailer

Back in the 80s/early 90s a local contractor had little red silage trailers which tipped like the one in the video below. They were probably 6 or 8 ton and the back end sloped inwards so it lifted off the grass, tidier than the Samco version. Anyone remember them? Wondering who the manufacturer was.

Having been in several indoor pits I can see one massive advantage.

I assume they were designed so all 4 sides were effectively solid instead of having the door rattling all day while the sides bend under the load. Or possibly a simple way to turn a flatbed into a tipper? Just guessing.

I can remember the plywood sided ones that tipped like that, IIRC the sides angled up from the front to about the middle then there was either a mesh or corrugated roof that sloped down to what would have been the back door.

I can’t. The rear of the trailer lifts just as high as the front of a normal trailer.
You can see the back end a lot easier than the front when it's up. I always had to put the seat right back and lean backwards to see, then I was practically lying down trying to reach the clutch to inch forward.

The height would be a fair bit lower on a long trailer, like these modern 20+ foot things.

I think I've seen a wooden version too. But the ones the contractor had were definitely all steel, and I don't remember any mesh except perhaps on the front. Can't quite remember if they were red or orange.

I'm sure one of them was different, the tilting sides only came halfway down. No idea how that could have worked at the front end, but that's how I remember it from 30-odd years ago.
