Slatted Slurry Tank to Waterstore

Hi,
I have a used underground slatted slurry tank. It is relatively clean with some grit in the bottom of it. We have very hard water so I would like to use rainwater for spraying. Would it be complete madness to use this tank for rainwater harvesting? I was thinking of possible dropping some well liners into a section of it for rainwater storage or has anyone a better idea how to use it?
