SLIMERS Watkins 788 trial

Hi everyone,
Despite having had around 175mm rain in the 2nd part of September, we have had a dry enough interlude to get the Watkins 788 etc trial planted. How are other people getting on?

This is great to see Charles. Thanks for keeping us up to date. So we started wheat drilling yesterday, but rain called a halt before we got anywhere near the slug-resistant wheat field.

Here's my trial layout - randomised blocks of Watkins 788, and the two RILs Line 64 and Line 50. We are drilling with a 6m Sprinter, so plan to leave an area undrilled then mark it out with the coloured markers. Then make an AB line and drill the plots cross ways. Is that how you did it?

We managed to drill last Monday and laid the traps out on Tuesday. Checked the traps on Monday of this week and found this nasty critter!

We set the drill up with a perpendicular AB line (add 90 degrees to the heading), then because we’re 12m drill we just shifted the line for each plot. In hindsight I wish I had set the GPS drill width at 14m, would have been much less maths!
