Hi thinking of buying an engine driven slurry pump. Currently running bauer pump on tractor just thinking what pump should i go for either doda 35 hd or stick with bauer. Only problem with the bauer is that it can be a pain with blockages and the impeller is expensive to replace

But the Bauer, will pump thick slurry more efficiently. Just depends what you are pumping really, if it is watery then get a doda.

For that we ran 2 Dodas for most of the time and a Bauer when we knew it was going to be thick/full of silage!

Anything with fibre too it you want the Bauer dodas aren’t very efficient when it’s got a lot of fibre too it, a lot easier to unblock than a doda if a doda blocks up its a major operation unblock it and that stroke oil cooler sh!t they put on the back means your up too your shoulder too unblock it ....
a Bauer 9/10 you can jut twist it off the impeller or worst case spin the 19mm nuts off the shearbar and wind it off with 1 inside nut off each side too fetch the shearbar away and pull everything out then reset... impeller is expensive too replace but wtf you doing too it too need too replace it? The outer casting has blown a hole in it before the impeller on our last 3 pumps

I’m not sure but I need an impeller every 1000 hours

What part of the impeller is wearing? we put about 5-6000 hours on an impeller and never worn one out yet just buy a new pump when the outer casing blows a hole through and keep the old one for spares... the plate behind the impeller needs welding or turning every 1000 hours roughly and maybe put a new mechanical seal in every 2-3000 hours but apart from that they give us no trouble

At the face of the impeller it will wear holes in it then it will start to run uneven

I’ve got one customer with sand beading so that must melt the metal in pump

If your doing a lot of sand buy a farrari pump purely for sand work as parts for them are half the price of the competition and the pump is practically the same as a doda, until this year we’ve not really pumped much sand but we’re pumping a hell of a lot now so the wear might speed up a lot on the propellers, good job we’ve 4 half worn ones on the shelf [emoji23]

Do you find the sand is hard on your hose ?

Do you find the sand is hard on your hose ?

We blow out with a size larger sponge and the sand still sits in the hose after, if it’s blown out and left wrapped up for a day or 2 we have too crack the pipes off at the adaptors or the sand will just plug the hose where the 5 inch goes down too 4.5... we’ve Definatly started getting a lot more random holes without explanation when we’ve not been pushing the hose since starting pumping more sand and it’s only sand I could put it down too as we don’t really reel pipes round gate posts or anything we go for the straightest route even if it means reeling off 200m in a heep in the field and driving too the other side of a hedge too pull it through and we’ve started too avoid laying pipes on hardcore tracks as either the sand is f**king the pipes or driving down the tracks too fields when the pipes are empty is causing more holes also.....

I dont have that problem with the sand blocking the hoses so i must not have that much sand in the slurry? Still un sure about which pump to go for

Give mark Roberts at slurry mate a ring he sells both pumps and will work out which pump is best for you, he would probably be interested in why your Bauer’s are wearing out so fast in the propellor might be able too he’ll you with that one....

5-6000 hrs on an impellor...... say 25000 gallon per hr, x 1000 hrs = 2.5 million gallon, x 6 = 15 million gallon on an impellor.... is it slurry your pumping or bull sh!t?

Tbf a lot more than that goes through it because we generally average 30,000G/hr up too 40,000g/hr... until this year our pumps never seen sand might be a different story this time but the pump were on now is on about 6million gallon and I had it apart last week too check over and it was like new still
