So many passes

Does anyone else think we go through our wheats too many times nowadays?
Pre em followed by insecticide
T0,1,2,3
Atlantis
3splits of N
Compound fert
Possibly a top of manganese.
Upto 12 passes! Far too many I’m starting to think.
May cut the fert to just 2 splits and do away with T0 in the future.

Since moving away from serviced agronomy we aren’t to bad now. 1-2 herbicides, 2-3 fungicides, 3 Nitrogen although have done two in the past.
Manganese goes in with the fungicides.

You categorically do not need to do a pass just for manganese.

Insecticides or the mention thereof is heretical on the forum. Even slug pellets are frowned upon as a pellet might whack a rabbit on the head.

So what can you mix Atlantis with?
Round up?
Compound fert?
And if you’ve got a manganese deficiency you aren’t going to wait!!

Ive mixed Atlantis and manganese many times. Not on blackgrass mind. Ive put PGRs with it as well.

Compound fert is an autumn job or do a combined compound job first time out.

Roundup on stubbles or stale seedbeds is hardly time sensitive.

You’ve not saved a pass putting growth regs in with Atlantis and I can categorically show you areas on this farm that if manganese is not applied before a T0 is due in certain years there would not be a crop!

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.
