So Many Twin calves

Weve calved 55 cows since xmas and had 8 sets of twins. This is very unusual to us as we’ve not had a twin in the last 5 years and we generally would only get one set per season. Has anyone else had this this year or an unusual amount of twins for their herd?

only had one set aborted apart from that none of them have died

We have had 10 sets of twins 109 cows
7 sets of twins heifers sexed semen !

Yes i had 5 of the first 8 cows calved have twins one year when usually i would get one set per season, i remember feeding a fair bit of hay that spring when they went out to grass because of frosts and i was covering it in alot of loose mineral which i reckon caused it.

That's what we thought because a few cows had some sugar beet early on

6 sets out of 37 in the early lot this year. Usually lucky if you get one set in that lot. Usually get more in the Spring calvers.

Heard others saying the same. Seems to be a year for them.

I've cows calving from 07 Apr. Scanned 10 pairs of twins from 92 cows. Although 1 cow aborted last week.
