They're not a company that we've ever done much business with if I'm honest, so don't have any contacts there I'm afraid.

If you're tied to them for a considerable amount of time through the MOP, we can put an LOA in place allowing us to discuss on your behalf, and I'd be happy to get involved and see what I can do. If there's no reason for you to stay with them then we can handle it like a new install and work alongside our usual partners to get a new meter in place and up and running for you no problem.

Sadly we are stick with them as they provide the import meter. Sadly that one is not programmed for export, although it is only 12 months old.
Dealing with them makes you feel like Cicephus , every time I speak to a new contact, they reply, can see the issue , will put you doen for high priority replacement. Then next day get email from the original contact noting they are working on it.

It can feel like groundhog day can't it. I don't think I'd be able to do what I do if I had to go through the usual channels and not contacts I have a relationship with, all the going in circles would drive me up the wall.

Use very little electric on farm here. I take it a 50kw solar array on shed roof still doesn’t stack up when you are exporting pretty much everything or have the economics changed with higher electricity prices?

As you are in Scotland you can go through the SME loan scheme and they will calculate it out for you but this is the blurb from ours (our export price should be 10p when sorted and system installed)

You have been quoted for a 30 kWp system which would fit on your parlour roof. It has been assumed
that the output of this system would be 23,787 kWh per year (using the Energy Saving Trust’s Solar
PV Calculatorii): this is based on the site’s location, roof angle of 35o
, minimal shading, and the
direction the roof faces (SE). We also based the calculation on a 10 kWp system and multiplied it by
three to reach 30 kWp.
Your electricity requirement during the day is currently around 8,390 kWh and, for the purposes of this
calculation, it has been assumed a PV system could provide 50% of this. This is a saving of 4,195
kWh and £976 (4,195kWh x day electric rate of £0.2327) and the equivalent of 0.89 tonnes CO2e. It
would mean the remainder generated (23,787 kWh - (8,390 kWh / 2) = 19,592kWh) would be exported
to the Grid. You have been quoted a Smart Export Guarantee of 9 pence per kWh and, at this rate,
you could obtain a payment of 19,592kWh x £0.09 = £1,763 per year. This project has a payback of
6.6 years.
