It seems to have been an extremely unusual year in Spain, with many flash floods. We seem to have cultural differences with the Spanish (although we love them of course) & don't hear as much about them as the USA, Canada, Australlia, NZ etc.

I buy sell veg so of course follow the Murcia weather with interest. It did seem in September that Spanish crops suffered a real battering, but the market did not really seem to reflect that, the floods in Boston & the Lancs Moss seemed to have more of an effect on the market. However prices are rising sharply now so something terrible must have happened.

May be it is the disruption to shipping but most products up 40% since earlier in the week.

Of course the loss of life is tragic for those concerned, did not realise there were so many casualties. We are very lucky here in the UK.

Was it 2-3 years ago the weather wiped out the lettuce crop,,just before christmas lidls didn't have any lemons ,don't know if they get them from Spain.

Am in the canaries. Spanish news full of storm Gloria. Massive damage in Balearics and northern areas including snow drifts. 100 to 140 mm rain in a day. Not so bad further south but still 50 mm a day for 2 or 3 days.

Prices already eased, so the problem must have been partly shipping problems.

Terrible year for some in Spain though & often British growers have a financial intrest with a Spanish partner to get an year round supply of crop.

It's true we have just had floods now we have a biblical plague on its way There's snow on the avocados and the Chinese have a new disease. The end times are coming.

I presume you will use insect netting on vegetable crops in Kenya, if locusts are a problem?

There's about 1200 acres of veg on the farm at present. So we shall be using the power of prayer.

What range of crops do you grow, Lowlander? Are you moving resources between Lincolnshire & Kenya?
