Local plant hire company to @Pheasant Surprise and I sold out for lots of millions and bought lots of rolls and maclarens. He then stated up in competition a few months later and is now taking all their business. Sadly the company didn’t buy what made the company successful... the man behind it !
I think there was a 3 year no competition clause between selling and restarting.the recycling part is going very well too

Reading this while waiting for one of those Vorsprung Durch Technics that don't break down, to be repaired. Top heavy management and staff not directly earning for the company spring immediately to mind as I watch them all wandering in and out of glass fronted offices, not even carrying bits of paper they can pretend to shuffle about to look busy.

Car dealers in general have done a great job in pr. and sales but there must be a fair whack on the top of every car, how long are they going to get away with it before top heavy management drags it all belly up.

Since we're on this subject , I'm not too sure that either Diane Abbott or indeed Corbyn are TOO much of a threat ., lightweights IMO , Now Gus McDonnell , background operator , puppet master and string puller is a very different kettle of fish . Get Corbyn and you get him , and for me , that would be a disaster . Still , why would I worry anyway , I haven't got long enough to live to worry about suchlike matters !

Workshop carry’s the majority of daily costs. Some times cars are sold at a loss to meet quotas. Most important is the quartet bonus which if targets met could be in to the million mark depending on franchise etc. Family owned local main dealers for years. Sold out to Hendy group a couple years back as market dynamics are changing.

The financial shenanigans at stobarts are a little complicated.
The company we all recognise as Eddie stobart being the trucks was originally run by Eddie Stobart jnr. His brother William left the business and went to work with his brother in law Andrew Tinkler (WA developments). They were rail contractors. They then bought Eddie Stobart trucking when it was failing about 16 years ago. Move forward and the company diversified into airports, warehousing property development car transport etc.
The company was then split into Stobart group with all the interests except road haulage, and Stobart logistics with the trucks. Stobart group kept the brand name and the right to charge for it. Tinkler stayed with the former, Stobart went with the lorries. The Stobart family then set up WA transportation and departed from the business with their name on it. Tinkler was thrown out of Stobart group.
Thus there is no family involvement in either company at present. It seems however that they are circling with their chequebooks looking for a way back in at less than they took with them when they left.
One if the biggest investors was funds run by Neil Woodford who went from being a star investment banker to a pariah very quickly.
Stobart and Tinkler came across as a couple of right wide boys in the TV programmes about the company, they did however understand road haulage having started out washing trucks at the age of 15. It appears that their successors may have lots of paper qualifications but not do much common sense.

They are still commonplace and they haven't gone bust, here or "there". Yet.

I do wonder though, why you would be "delighted there [sic] gone bust"?
Because they came in to Ireland and put private hauliers out of business , they spent nothing in the country , organising their own fuel and no servicing carried out here , they paid no tax here either , And by taking the work from Irish men they stopped the local lads from paying tax here either. So basicially they costed the Irish economy a small fortune .

And the irish haulage firms have never come over to England and performed exactly the same trick......
