Anybody been offered cheap bunches of (40-60) store/fat lambs or knows anybody that seems to be coming by lambs without visiting any markets or at strange times? Regular bunches are being stolen from herefordshire and surrounding areas . 250-300 have been pinched from different farmers within the last 3 mths. Keep your eyes open and lets get these scum caught, somebody within the farming community is giving info to thieves and maybe taking delivery too.

Surly the theaves are from the farming community, they would need a hell of a good pair of dogs to steel 60 quietly and probably in the dark. We have a local old sheep rustler who lives near here, he was driven out of wales, a real nasty piece of work.

Probably doing it in plain sight and people just think its the farmer moving sheep, with hfd market becoming the mecca for sheep its not unusual to see sheep being moved at all hours of most days

I’ve heard this, an it’ll be more than one person involved, they want feckin leatherin, thieving bàstards!! Like you say, one of our own, they ought to hang the fecker from the market gate an leave him there!! He’d be well placed to know who’d got sheep on tack a bit far from home so less chance of being caught in the act, lowest form of scum, they ought to brand the twàt!!!

I hope the perpetrators handed themselves in to the police before certain auctioneers at Hereford could get their hands on them!😳

I am led to believe it all played out in the market when sheep were being penned up .
I dont think young people working in markets with sheep buyers/ dealers as role models is a healthy thing to be honest, they make used car salesmen look like choir boys and would encourage all sorts.

I can understand where your coming from with that statement, and I know a lot of them would gladly have your pants down an shaft you for all you were worth but I don’t know how many would actually encourage the theft of sheep!! Any body that did is obviously a total bàstàrd of the highest order!! I would imagine they’ll be two or three in the group well all be surprised to hear about,, an when it does come out they want black balling from the whole industry

When my brother was told not to come back to a well know very popular market for an innocent reason the sheep buyers dealers the very ones he bid against were more upset then anyone so some do have morals

8 months is hardly a deterrent against a potential £87000 gain. this is why there is so much theft in the uk, especially rural areas. they know that even if they get caught the punishment will be tiny, so the risk vs reward is heavily in their favour, especially as most of the time it isnt even investigated, your just given a crime no. for insurance and told to eff off.

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
