Stone burier on demo

I have this 3m valentini stone burier on demo and I’m impressed with it in a ploughed field at burying stone and the finish it leaves but to justify buying it I think it needs to be able to go straight into a sprayed off field of grass and not leave sods everywhere. In the video you will see it does leave some sods and these get dragged around a bit with the guttler drill I use. So I’m wondering if anyone else has experience with this machine and what drill can handle the sods and do you like the machine?

I’ve got a Massano stone burier. Pure magic.
Mine is set up for beds,
They leave a fine filth on top, perfect for planting, but there is a very free draining layer of stones underneath that requires careful irrigation.

the models are stone size dépendant, mine will take up to rugby ball size.

Didnt know u could get a stone burier. How does it bury the stones then and what price is it compared to a powerharrow?

They are a rotavator which rotates the other way so the tilth gets chucked backwards and left on top. Used them a lot on compact tractors on amenity work, didn’t know you could get proper sized ones.

To expect it to do a finished job in grass in one pass is a bit much IMHO.

It's basically a glorified rotovator, turning in the opposite direction, with a row of vertical tines behind the rotor so the stones get caught and fall down into the trough doug by the rotor, and the fine soil goes through the grid of tines to cover the stones. Work well in ideal conditions...but can't cope with big stones, and will leave a heap when the machine has to be lifted on the headlands .

What speed were you doing in the videos as forward speed can make a huge difference to how effectively the stone burier will work. With these machines if you slowdown they will do a better job as a general rule (3-6kph is ideal).

The machine should be able to go into a field of grass without leaving sods laying on top. I’ll be seeing my colleague later this morning who brought the machine to you so will get him to give you a call.

If it’s big stones you want to deal with then you need their heavier duty stable mate, the stone crusher.

When putting a lawn in we go over it with the riddle bucket to remove big stuff ,the smaller stuff (75mm) or smaller then gets run over by the stone burier ,it smashes alot of the small stones into bits and burys

I was doing 2mph in the videos. Your colleague calling me tomorrow anyway to discuss if I’m buying it or not but can’t decide if I am 🤔
