Stone fork (stane graip)

Just finished making myself a graip like that, do you use it with a hydraulic top link? Thinking about getting one so we can lift stones when rolling/levelling without getting off the seat
Yeah that's what we do with hydraulic top link.

Be difficult getting geometry right to get the tines in the ground to dig one out. On our old 7050 it was perfect. But on newer tractor I struggle to get tines in to get some stones out.

Some people have a double toplink that gets better angle for howking them out.

Tocherford smiddy has a feature for getting better angles too.

I put 3 different top link holes on this one so we can play with the geometry for different tractors, surprising the difference it makes just by lifting the top link a hole. It wouldn’t take much to add a ‘higher up hole’ to your graip to make it work better with your new tractor

How much would you make 1 for?

Looks very professional.

Thanks, would need to be about the £1750-£2k mark I think depending on spec (weight carriers, brackets etc). The price of the tines soon adds up.

Really don’t have the time if you’re needing it for spring work though.

I'd like something for springtime. Last minute.com as usual.

No. But need to modify ours or get top link with more travel. Doesn't have enough downwards angle for digging stones out.

With 6f plough and press on back. The front suspension is well up when ploughs lifted.
Ours is mainly for rolling as we dont have alot of big stones but alot of rugby ball size ones. Just need to get some dimensions and what size box, i think it would be easy to over engineer it when it doesnt need to be.

Maybe not so easy to make yourself but I'd seriously consider making it hydraulic tipping like the picture below, and not a hydraulic top link, getting angles and a hydraulic top link to work isn't easy, with this you just need a standard top link and can go on any tractor front linkage, plus the tip and crowd angles are far far better.

Pal of mine not long got one from GM at Turriff and it's very well made.

I have 1 and there quite a few locally now far better than any hyd top link

What size steel did you use Grant?

Think i should manage with hyd top link as going to use it when rolling so dont need excessive crowd to dig big stones out?

The thing that always bugs me about a hydraulic top link is trying to get the stones off, especially if you've hand balled smaller ones on, the top link never seems to give enough tip to get them off without hand balling the last few or taking the top link pin out and tipping graipe by lifting the arms up.
