Dear All,

Greeting from Ethiopia, we recently purchased used TF78 harvester from UK and was working in Ethiopia. Sadly, someone unplugged or miss placed the battery ... the machine stopped starting, later we resolved the start issue but now can't drive ... we see Error 1001 3 x, LC network error ... we are badly looking for some hints to put the combine back on the road? the harvest season is on and we urgently need any support

best regards

Ali

Unhook the battery and let it set for a few minutes it may need to reboot.

“DIODE” DON is a guy who used to work for APH and is an expert on TF 78 electrical problems. Does anybody know where he is now and has a contact number for him?

He will know what that error code is and how to fix it.

One thing I think he would suggest is to delete all the error codes on the inteliveiw box. That might cure the problem.

to delete error codes section 4 page 58 it says after the error has been repaired reset the counter by pressing the square button that is marked with a bent arrow and the letter c the one in the centre of the top row of the info view just below the intelyview i have a tf 76 the book is the same for both machines it doesn't mention your error code what it does say is codes from 1 to99 are of high importance 100 to 499 are of medium importance
check all the fluid levels make sure the trans oil wasnt "misplaced" with the battery there is an over ride switch under the pump on the engine that can be operated by hand just to check the mechanicks ,ours went on stop a few years ago they plugged in a diagnostic box to find the problem NH dealers have them with ours it was the potenciometer on the joystick
good luck my advice would be to look up A P H on the internet give them a call they are always very helpful and very reasonable on parts ,let us know how you get on

Dear @Ali Ethiopia

I have now managed to find out that "Diode" Don has return to working for APH. He is the expert to get in touch with regarding all electrical problems with TF combines.

Try this
http://www.aphltd.co.uk/pages/contactus

Their telephone number from Ethiopia will be 00441733 840691

OR you need to email the workshop manager: [email protected]
Ask to be put in contact with Don, who is their TF 78 expert

However, @bumkin mentioned something that could be the answer to your problem and needs checking. This being the potentiometer on the joystick. These have been known to cause problems. It is worth you checking these.

I have just spoken to my local NH expert and he has made the following suggestions which you should try first;

The problem could be that you "misplaced" the battery. Do you mean that you connected it the wrong way round? By which we mean that you connected the positive lead to the negative battery pole and the negative lead to the positive battery pole? If so, you might have damaged quite a lot of the electrical circuits.

But if everything else seems to be working except for the forward and reverse, you need to check the following:
There is a 2 wire electrical power lead from the Joystick to the Hydrostatic pump on the end of the engine. This lead runs from the joystick, behind the seat, then along the left hand side of the combine to the pump. It has been known for this lead to become damaged.

Check it as follows:
Put the gear lever in Neutral.
Disconnect the lead from the pump and connect it to a electrical Multimeter tester.
Start the combine engine and move the joystick forwards and backwards to see if any electrical power is getting to the pump.
If there is no power, check the wiring, then the potentiometer.

It could well be that by connecting the battery the wrong way round, that you damaged this lead from the joystick to the pump and the potentiometer, or both.

I hope this helps.
If not, I suggest you contact APH and ask to be put in contact with Don.
