Not just the 400 staff but all the associated business's that supply or use the materials,, this is what would have happened to Scunthorpe except that would have been 4000 jobs

I had some 5x3 RSJ with ‘British steel’ rolled on it, not square and bent as a banana. Used it anyway as is only a stable, but was a bit disappointed in British quality.

The steel plant concerned makes specialist steel for the electric industry. For electric motors, transformers, magnets and that kind of thing apparently. There is claimed to be massive overcapacity in the European area for that kind of metal, or so I think I read a few days ago somewhere.

Well on news now TATA steel Port Talbot after 1.5 Billion AGAIN or jobs will go allegedly ?

How will Dripford Answer or Justify that to Farmers then????
Tonight he blamed it on UK Gov not responding to subsidy request from Tata to change to electric furnaces . So called Tata losing patience waiting and Kwatang saying decision would have to wait for new PM to decide

Some of these foreign owners seem to a bit on the sly side BUT it has to be said that successive British governments have NO interest in helping British industry and agriculture through rough times, and indeed they seem to delight in making both sectors jump through more and higher hoops than their competitors. SHORT SIGHTED LOAD OF W*NKERS the lot of them....

I think agriculture is helped through rough times. The interesting thing is that it seems to be that they don't want to so much anymore

One paper yesterday said the massive Ukrainian steel plant that was being fought over had many millions of pounds worth of steel ready for delivery to EU and UK. It had already been paid for and the ruskies have started hauling it to Russia instead

How much money stays in the UK when they pay them though?
