Tb reactors within 60 days of calving

I've got three heifers due to calve within 60 days to sexed semen , compensation is circa £860 as they have not calved , thus they are robbing me of 2 heifers for £860 , however if they had calved they would pay Circa £1400 plus they only take one heifer .
My question is if I apply to keep the heifers until they calve will the compensation stay at £860 because they will have calved at point of removal or does the valuation stick to the un calved rate on the date the animal failed the skin test , either way I would be happier as it's a bit cruel on the unborn calve to let them go now

I don’t know about the compo but I had this a few years back with incalf suckler heifers, they were close to calving an I played holy feck up that it was wrong an if I would of done it at an abattoir I would be in serious sh!t with them being so close!! They let me keep them until calved an then gone after ten days, six went only one showed any lesions!! Not the nicest experience I’ve had

I suspect it’s the status of the animal (age, calved etc) on the day of Tb reading although they are always very helpful when I ring up so could be worth a phone call. We’re waiting on a suckler cow to calve now before she goes, the other reactors went 10 days ago.

Exactly, not nice calves balling for their mother but what can you do, one rule for them another for us!! If jo-public new about that sort of thing it wouldn’t go down well I’m sure!! Fostered the spare calves onto other cows loose housed, one heifer took to four of them, she earnt her keep that year, good girl

Someone told me that they only pay for in calf if they been scanned, wether that’s true or not?
They don't pay anything for in calf whether scanned or not , it's purely age and then whether calved or not , hence it's £860 for two heifers or the next day calved it's £1460 for one heifer , it's nuts and lord knows what market they are basing their prices on that a holstien steer is worth more than an in calf holstien heifer

Do you want to though? Not worth going off the place unless absolutely necessary I reckon, tier 3 here so good excuse to get out of all the Xmas hassle👍

Had this happen a few years ago. Value is the table value on the reading day for the animal on that day, so if not calved then it is the lower value.

Can't move animals due within 28 days as don't comply with transport regs. DEFRA did allow calving on farm, wait 7 days, then take for slaughter. Kept the calf, but not allowed to suckle. Had to be moved within 6 weeks of test if I remember rightly.

We lost 21 last year out of our small herd of 80 all but 4 were either in-calf or fresh, the price they pay is whatever they are classed as on the day if reading the test unfortunately.
So £860.
I kicked off and asked if I should be sending them my ai bill and the guy on the end of the phone got cross at me and said its an average price from markets. He didnt like it when I asked if the £860 was an average of in-calf heifers/cows from pure limousin herds in calf to ai, lots of splattering about how it would be impossible etc
