Telescopic tanker axle?

Yes I can see your idea(y)

Only issue I can see is on undulating ground that trailer could pivot on the fixed axle, this could have weight transfer issues on the drawbar, the massive load imposed on the mounting point could be an issue? Obviously a different story if you are on fairly flat going?
Also at which setting would you be running with load compensation? On road or in field? Do you currently have a load compensating ride height valve in the system, I'm guessing yes?
Yes have a ride height valve, won't be hard to rig up a valve to drop the air.

I don't think undulations will be a problem, currently turn into a very steep gateway and the middle axle takes all the weight.

Just having a bit of a head scratch ..............
With multiple axles, will the tanker still run true after the tractor, when you offset the draw bar in the field?
Will the air bags give enough movement/clearance for the fixed third axle?
The third axle will be on an existing track in the field, or on an old one made by the other axles?

You can buy free running track sets off the shelf I believe, but they won't be cheap:rolleyes:

I've seen a lime spreader on tracks behind a Quadtrac somewhere (n), YouTube possibly(n), seemed a bit ott! But the track idea is interesting.

Also seen a pic of a terragator that has a track instead of rear wheels and an lift axle that drops and lifts the tracks for road travel!

Just thinking aloud, could you use some second hand rubber tracks off a quod track and some twin wheel wagon trailer axles to run as idlers?

give http://www.stealth.ie/ a shout think they made one with a single wide floation tyre running in front of the tandem axle

John Kennedy is a smart guy,he's come up with some good stuff over the last couple of years.(y)

I'm not trying to spend any money on this job, that's why I put it in the workshop project section.:D:rolleyes:
what about a drawbar set up similar to a bailer

Trouble is the drawbar is already sprung and on it is the umbilical pump, the drawbar isn't light weight as it's got to tow 20t safety,I'm thinking I could mount a pivot infront of the pump.

Pivot in front of the pump would work well, wouldn't take that much making really
Would it be worth just goin 3 axles on air with flotation tyres and a pivot drawbar and forget about lift axles and all that lot?

If I made the pivot work the opposite way to the stealth tanker I could use it when turning into tight gates off the main road.(y)

I can't go bigger than 560s due to chassis width, another axle and running in a different track would make a big difference I'm sure, the tanker started out as a road tanker it was never going to go on the field, then I bought some new tyres last year thinking I'll use it when really dry:rolleyes:

Found a 20000l tank and I'm now thinking of making another but it will defo be a road tanker if I do it.

That's what I was thinking, would you just make your rear axle lift to make it turn a bit better ?
