TexX ewes - which Tup to use?

Skoda breeds the tups himself - Lleyns and Suffolk's. From what I remember (on the old forum) he is very much in the progressive/easy lamber category - breeding for functionality.

It's a shame he never joined this forum - he would happily answer all you want to know, himself.

As for face colouring... "Quality always sells" as they say.
Clean heads, very good skins, smart lambs with shape - there is no reason why those lambs in the pictures I posted should struggle to sell in any live ring. It would be a disgrace, and an insult to our industry, if buyers were to turn their noses up at them because of the colour on their face.

As a relative newbie to this ff lark, it's great to hear from another Suffolk enthusiast in the sunny south of Scotland ( or the grim wastes of the north if ur in England/Walesshire!)
With this balmy weather hopefully all your lambs will get a good start. And yes I have lost 2 days of my life catching up on this thread!

Welcome to the forum!

Not sure I'd call myself a Suffolk enthusiast, with these tups being the first on the farm since 2000... but I am liking them, and am actually quite excited to get the lambs on the ground.

Are you in D&G yourself? Where abouts?

Not in D &G, close enough though, I'm nr Maybole . I also got fed up with "Kelso " suffolks years ago, vowed never to use them again etc etc. Then I spoke to a fellow from Thornhill who was already brainwashed by Mr Easyrams , so took a punt on a couple of his suffloks. They do everything the old ones didn't. Straight forward functional sheep , no dirty bums, good growthy lambs who survive outdoor lambing. No reason to doubt ur suffolks won't do the same. I know not easyrams, but good sheep is good sheep!! What part of D n G you in?
