Not in D &G, close enough though, I'm nr Maybole . I also got fed up with "Kelso " suffolks years ago, vowed never to use them again etc etc. Then I spoke to a fellow from Thornhill who was already brainwashed by Mr Easyrams , so took a punt on a couple of his suffloks. They do everything the old ones didn't. Straight forward functional sheep , no dirty bums, good growthy lambs who survive outdoor lambing. No reason to doubt ur suffolks won't do the same. I know not easyrams, but good sheep is good sheep!! What part of D n G you in?

Are you actually suggesting UK Suffolk genetics can do the same as your NZ Suffolks? You'll be getting a flea in your ear from @easyram1 ;)

I wouldn't be as brave as that incase Robyn is keeping tabs on all the threads ;) . Just wishing another "Jock" good luck with his sheep. For what it's worth, I tried Meatlinc tups for a few years instead of uk suffolks, got fed up trying to palm them off as charollais x lambs at market. So bought a charollais. Had no problems with his lambs at all. Sadly a rather keen collie pup I had took a notion to him too, and chased him into the river before he could put his arm bands on!:( Don't know if u record swimming ability but keep me in mind for 1 if you do!!

As is a a well known Donald Trump type fact EasyRams can do everything including swimming. We have a client farming just outside Dumfries who bought a ram lamb off us 3 years ago. This ram on delivery was put with other rams in a small field with a small ( about 20 metres wide ) river running alongside. Within a couple of days of arriving the Easyram swam the river walked 300/400 yards along opposite bank and then swam back to first side to reach neighbours ewes. This happened again the next day before he was relocated. This incident is NOT grounds for ram replacement

Small river?

Hmm, the Cairn doesn't get that wide. The Cample does, but is very shallow at that point - half way up your shin at best...

The only other river is the Nith  it ain't small!

Iv seen your tups/lambs at Thornhill, I'm guessing the same place as Bill Dog. They look very good (y)

Not sure which river? The farmers land ?adjoins SAC large Dairy Farm. Is it Crighton Royal? The Thornhill Farmer has been a really very supportive client and one whose recommendations we frequently use

Oh god - that's below Dumfries! 1 wrong move and that tup would have been lost into the Solway Firth forever!

Surely you are missing out on a golden marketing ploy, one that would give easyrams even more market share!! Easyrams- unbeatable on land or sea!(y)
Easyrams -unbeatable on land sea or air:LOL::LOL: One of their very few down points is their ability to go past anyone standing in their way in say a race at shoulder or head height.
STOP PRESS. We have discovered today that they cannot walk on top of slurry lagoons. Many thanks this morning to our neighbouring dairy farmer who recovered 3 Ram Hoggs safely out of his lagoon by lassoing each of them and hauling them back to the side

Have you added in any soya yet @Nithsdale Farmer. Our ewes are everything from ideal condition to very fit, i spoke to sac consultant this morning who suggested going 100gms barley/ 100gms soya per life. Going to analyse our hay and have just chucked some buckets out this weekend

It seems to be the on trend thing to do to feed ewes 100g of soya. Maybe a slightly fantastical \romantic view but it's a shame that the whole industry is being advised to feed a product which isn't grown in this country. At least with rape meal or dark grains they could be produced here. As i say just a small bug bear and soya is likely the most cost effective option. But buy British lamb (which is fed soya produced in Brazil) isn't a great advert.

No, no Soya added in.

I'm happy how the ewes are doing so decided just to sit tight with the mix. Time will tell if it's a wise move or not

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.
