Now therein lies a singular truth and that is the British are far more removed from the cycle of life and death than many other cultures. Maybe its the average two to three weeks between death and burial or perhaps it's the nature of the C of E, but we have seen a terror of death in the UK over the last few weeks that far outstrips that of Ireland. It's so sad to see burials where there are few, if any, mourners. As a mark of respect, we should all remember Dave Allen's funeral prayer - ''In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and into the Hole he Goes''.
At least dat's what he tort de Priest said, when he attended his first Roman Catholic burial in Dublin.

But none of us has sunk as low as the Guardian. It's peeved, bitter and twisted, journalists can't miss any opportunity to try to bad-mouth Tory politicians. And Labour politicians seem to go along with them. See John McDonnell's comments.
And I see Diane Abbott has left the shadow Cabinet. Apparently she's still not recovered from a bout oF Corbyn-69.
You are absolutely right about those who seem to demand ever tighter control and abandonment of liberty in a bid to stave off the virus. They strike me as very insecure in their demands for the state to bully others on their behalf, it's a most unappealing streak within society and you seem to have a lot more of it over there than we do here, but that's probably because there are more of you and so the extremism becomes more vocal. There are a lot of frightened people out there myself included some are frightened of dying, some of someone close to them dying others like myself are worried about their businesses and the damage to the economy the reaction to the virus is causing. All these thing lead people to react in different ways. What i have found most disturbing are the people who seem to glory in banding about the numbers who may die or the fact that the army may be called out etc . There seems to be a large number of people happy to be in the end times. Or of the belief that they benefit from what is going on. If we can get away from the idea that all news has to bad news then maybe we can get out of this situation a lot quicker. As such my piece of good news is when my daughter had to go into Lincoln A&E on Thursday night after her brother had tried to remove her finger with her hammer there were no people in there and she was seen in ten minutes. In fact they had so few customers that three different doctors were fighting over who should treat her. A year previously when my Dad fell over he and my son waited four hours for treatment. So it's an ill wind etc.
I have from the start believed in percentages 1000 dead or 20000 dead sounds horrendous but there are 60 million plus in the UK. This is a farming forum and when we discuss livestock we talk ofYou are absolutely right about those who seem to demand ever tighter control and abandonment of liberty in a bid to stave off the virus. On the silver lining front then hopefully folk might come to realise that there is more to life than the latest Iphone, app, gizzmo or whatever and there might be a reappraisal of how society should function rather than continue headlong into a state of digital tyranny as desired by big tech.
That's a theory. Again look at Sweden. And luckily i am not in charge or ever likely to be.If you had let it rip it could have killed upwards of a million people in this country alone , with people being left at home to die in pain
Its not realy though us it, 80% of cases are mild , so 20 % of casses are not . If you ran out of hospital beds which you rapidly would, a lot of those would dieThat's a theory. Again look at Sweden. And luckily i am not in charge or ever likely to be.
Again you isolate those at risk not all people.if you have a health issue, if by virtue of age or any other factors you isolate yourself. This again is my view and again it's all theoretical. Its not realy though us it, 80% of cases are mild , so 20 % of casses are not . If you ran out of hospital beds which you rapidly would, a lot of those would die
Or look at Spain where a care home was abandoned by staff and old folk left to die. That's a theory. Again look at Sweden. And luckily i am not in charge or ever likely to be.
Sadly I think we may have to wait for how America fares when their health system is overloadedThat's a theory. Again look at Sweden. And luckily i am not in charge or ever likely to be.
But it’s not just the elderly and those with pre existing medical conditions who are dying, apart from anyone else there have been several doctors and nurses who have died allready, no doubt there will be more before this is over. How many would die if you let it rip through the population?Again you isolate those at risk not all people.if you have a health issue, if by virtue of age or any other factors you isolate yourself. This again is my view and again it's all theoretical.
Actually there is incredible learning and sharing available on FB if you look for it. The FB algorithms show you content based on what you view and how long for, what you react to and what your "friends" look at. If your FB experience is negative it is up to you to change it......Facebook is just toxic / narcissistic
Twitter is just virtue signalling rubbish / echo chamber for farmers who line up to provide vegans / packham etc with ”sport”
TFF has its faults but it’s far better than either of the above imo. Social media can be a very destructive thing but imagine life without it right now, proving it’s not all bad it’s helping spread good information and keeping people in touch through some very difficult times
Some of the comments on here been horrible recentlyI find TFF really interesting on all matters agricultural and in general .
When the odd member starts to get amusement by trying to make light hearted entertainment of Covid19 by their comments on TFF , I find that is in very poor taste
Friends of mine on FB (of which you are one) will see I mainly post cow pictures and things of rural beauty and interest like landscapes. FB can be a positive place and a way of keeping in touch with like minded folks and without it I probably wouldn't have some international friendsActually there is incredible learning and sharing available on FB if you look for it.
