The "I`ve got it" thread...

Well, as I`m NHS staff I can conclusively say I am not "overpaid".

I am contracted to work 37.5 hours a week, averages at about 42 a week at the moment "because", the work is time consuming and mentally taxing but certainly not the hardest job I`ve ever done, 30+ years in the meat trade wins that hands down.

The final salary pension scheme, that "gold plated one", was done away with in stages across 1995,2008 and 2015. The 2015 scheme pays "A pension worth 1/54th of each years’ pensionable earnings, revalued at the beginning of each following scheme year in line with a rate set by Treasury plus 1.5 % whilst in active membership with an option for a lump sum up to 25% of capital value"

You are correct that I haven`t "suffered", not sure if you want me to flagellate myself or just carry on doing the day job that means other people can do theirs?

I have intentionally avoided the "income generator" part, when it would be a cheap shot at somebody who may have been fortunate enough to be born into their opportunity and subsidised by the very system they appear to despise.

Stay well, stay safe.
NHS scheme fully funded and ring fenced as far as I know.
The problem to use a quote from the papers is the NHS is run for the benefit of those who work in it not the patients. I do not detract from the very hard work put in by front line staff who I admire greatly.
There is more than one manager per bed. Cut that by 50%.
Our CS is the only business which with computerisation never managed to cut staff numbers just made more paper mountains.
The wunderkids who wasted £3 billion on a system that never worked should have been transferred to sellafield, you can't fire a CS worker unless they fiddle the expenses. All that was required was to buy the French system which is excellent for a few million and use google translate for the bits that were not related to drugs which are the same lingo anyway.
No one on here would employ the numpty I referred to for £25k per annum, interestingly for some unknown reason we collectively pay him 10X that!
Nobody ever gave me a penny I grafted for every one I own.

@Breakthru A post I have made before about other heathcare systems. Which of the below would you like to pay for and receive healthcare from that is so much better?

I am genuinely interested in your thoughts and reasons.View attachment 872832
I know for a fact that the German system is much more efficient than ours and the Computer system the French use is excellent. All your medical details on a credit card sized card. That alone would save us millions on health tourism and illegal immigrants.

I don't know if it's a bit of cabin fever, or what, but yesterday on tv a doctor was praising the Mediterranean diet for boosting our immune system and generally improving our health. It didn't do much for all those Italians, did it? Perhaps they were on the Adriatic diet!

The guy also banged on about brain cells in our gut; something that popped up in the dealing with depression thread
some time ago.

It's starting to feel as though all us pensioners are extras in a giant sci-fi movie, where you have great difficulty identifying 'all' the heroes and anti heroes but you can be pretty sure that most of the extras get the chop before the finale and the credits come up.

Missus tells me the tests are hit and miss... They've tested some people 4 times with different results.

One with symptoms was negative another with no symptons tested as positive.

She applied online last night for home test kits for her. Be interesting to see.

Of course, I know nuffing but it is starting to appear that the timing of the test may have considerable influence of the indicated outcome.

Can't see the point in testing aside from front line NHS , if you've got it you'll know it if you haven't it doesn't matter .
No, a lot of people have 'something' but are not sure if it is CV. If they have it, they should be self isolating. If they haven't then they can carry on as usual. My neighbour is pretty certain he had it, as felt so sh!t. But one brother in Spain has a dry cough - CV or not? My nephew, who was still working, had a tight chest and head ache for 4 days, closely followed by his sister and then their Mum and they all stayed at home as required (Mum is actually a teacher and was still working until then, looking after co-worker children). My brother, who is vulnerable with very severe asthma, self isolated in an empty holiday home on the farm where he works, at the first hint of illness in the family. Was that CV or not? If not, then the nephew and Mum could have kept working and my brother needn't have moved out. He was lucky he had somewhere safe he could go. If it was CV it was probably a bloody good thing he cleared off when he did as he appeared to stay healthy.

Everyone thinks they may have it , but in fact few do .
Your interpretation of self isolation is different to mine .

Hence why the govt website today got overwhelmed in no time Was anybody else not surprised?

I'm expecting those first tests to be fairly worthless with something like a 95% negative rate based on people wanting to be tested, rather than needing to be.

I wonder how many of those applying for tests were actually showing symptoms.

after 4 weeks of lock down?:scratchhead:
My thoughts too, the idea of isolating familes with one member showing symptoms for 14 days is that it gives everyone chance to get it and get over it, so the only way people can catch it now is if they leave the house and come into contact with someone else who has it which you would think by now should be almost impossible

Until we consider the proportion of those still working.

NHS alone must be racking up a lot of positive results at the moment I would expect.

But as long as they're social distancing they can't get it.
Agree NHS staff still at risk but numbers still don't stack up
