your lucky then. ours are burnt off with the frost and freezing winds. I am sure yours will emerge well from the snow cover.

I hope your right - where wind had drifted it from patches on osr fields the pigeons are hammering it though as they are the only bits of green to eat !

the jetstream was over n/france and sometimes even further south like as now, this time end of march last year.so its not looking v/good.if you run the animation, you will see april16th is looking pretty good, but for how long?i did my haymaking to this animation in desperation last year, got it good but late.was accurate.

Went for a drive this pm and it is shocking looking at the crops in Wiltshire, more and more appear to have been ripped up and redrilled and this is on light land, no sign of any emerging tho, those left are going backwards at a fast rate too talk about hiding a hare most couldnt hide a mouse at the moment

is there any way of predicting the jet streams path?because unless i can persuade my self that it will move back too its normal ?? track, then i have no enthusiasm too sow crops ond then have the weather kick the hell out of me as it has done for the past TWOyears?!?!?

How does Blocking of the jetstream cause such extremes of weather?

the jetstream isn't blocked,it's simply well south of its normal pattern.with HP building to out north and east it opens the door to cold air from the same areas.
until it heads back north and returns a zonal pattern (west to east) we are in the colder theme of things.

regards predicting it's path,we didn't know it even existed until the 1940's.

The cold weather is due to high pressure (cyclone) off to the north east of the UK. The prevailing easterly winds due to this high pressure have originated from Russia and eastern Europe and that's the reason it's so chuffing cold just now. I think one could say that the jetsream being in more southerly latitudes is an effect of this high pressure, rather than the primary reason for the cold weather per sey. Once we get back to Atlantic frontal weather systems, we can expect milder conditions irrespective of the exact jetstream location.

Then we move onto the thoughts that the lack of Arctic Ice has led to the warming of the Ocean. which in turn has had an effect of the track of the jetstream pushing it South.
Bloody hell it's sleepless nights once you start to consider the variables lol.
