Thoughts about Rishi's self employment deal

Still a difficult one for anyone relying on tourism - its going to be a squeeze!

f**ked the year up and then gives you 80% of the profits last year divided by 3 months out of 12.

NIC going up as well in the future.

Better than nothing but a proper reaming if nothing booked by July. Will still be in control of our own destiny when through it I guess.

I'll read it later , I failed to take it all in.

But you can carry on working doing what you can and receive 3 months of the 80% I've took it as.

Did he not say the 80% taxed aswell?

Whatever he puts forward a) there will be people that still moan it's not enough and b) we are going to be shafted for years to come.

I really wouldn't like ANY job in Govt just now. Damned if you do and damned if you don't.

One thing I am glad about is that we didn't get independence!!

What a clusterf*** that would've been!

I agree if damned if do damned if don't. Lots of overheads cannot be cut though so banks need to come on board and allow us to stick 2020 on the end of loans as an "extra year".

So every self employed person needs to claim this really even if you don't need it? All taxpayers will be squeezed to get the money back for these grants in the coming years so if you don't claim it you lose out and still get taxed to pay back everyone else's grants?

Not so much grants as very inefficient, expensive loans in my view, but needs must

That's what I was thinking... If you're not to need it you'll be helping pay it all back down the line.

think we had better wait and see what the accountants say, but, in all fairness to the guv, with such a wide scope of the self employed, getting anything out, that even looks partially fair, is one hell of an achievement, Perhaps Boris is thinking ' what the hell have I done, to get this mess thrown at me', dread to think what it would be like if Corbyn was pm.
See the gov is getting a lot of flak, for not joining the EU effort, as offered. On reflection, I think he is right, his gov has got things moving very quickly here, new temp hospitals, orders for ventilaters, a serious financial package etc. One could argue the EU has done similar, but it most certainly a united EU, and it is going to devastate some countries, would we have had to share our ventilators with them ? The offer, more about helping the EU finding the money to sort those countries, hit hardest, we are/were the 2nd biggest contributor to the budget, and that money has to come from somewhere ,

I cant use the online system or ring any of the numbers ,,,All of my details are held in a restricted access office ,the only one in the whole country and only certain people in that office can deal with me ,,my Ni number is not recognized on any DWP or HMRC site ,,if I tryed to ring them ,they couldnt tell me anything ,,
Going to be an intersting call to this dedicated department or should I say ,,If there is even anybody there to find out whats avaliable .

All trans people go onto a restricted access list ,,nobody can look into their past life ,you become invisible ,,your old life vanishes behind a locked door which is so tight ,only certain people are allowed to view that information ,,the same department holds information on judges,Mps ,diplomats and secret government staff like any of the MI branches ,,We dont get a choice in the matter ,,our whole previous lives evaporate into thin air ,,its a right pita trying to sort out tax claims .

I can imagine, its bad enough dealing with them when they have all the information, I hate to thing how HMRC are going to make this work, never struck me as the most competent dept. in gov.

Surely if everyone takes it it will just be all the more to collect back? Yes it may be 'fairer' but why shaft the country if not needed. I personally feel privileged that I can go to work and get on with it these days (admittedly the sunshine helps) but I would rather be out earning than stuck home claiming and certainly wont claim if I'm earning normal wages.
