Tier 5 4220

We have always been big fastrac fans and we recently got a tier 5 4220 and i really like it, but it does seem a bit flat!

Ive never had or even really driven a Vario before, and this could be part of the problem, everyone tells me the vario sucks loads of power, but if that was the case the little fendts would be gutless?

Its only done 200 hours so i assume it will improve?

We tend to drive it in D, which i think is pedal mode to Fendt drivers? Is this whats sapping it?

We have a 180hp powershift tractor that does 55k, it would go quicker up a slight incline with the slurry tanker full than the 4220 would?
I see loads of 4220 pulling 4000+ gallon tankers, they all chipped or am i just being greedy?

The sisu engine can take a good while to run in. We have a 6499 unchipped and it was about 2000 hors before it was comin into its own. Get a real good hardpto job for her if u can like on a hard pull for the whole day will help her immensely

Newer engines need a bit longer to bed in but really do benefit from hard work and prolonged hard work not a drag up a hill but full load all day with a cultivator or square balling big swaths

As above, check it’s working as it should as the one I had on demo was a beast on a sumo trio and that only had a couple of hundred hours on it.

We have demo a few & they are gutless , for a 220hp tractor they go like a 180hp , to heavy for the hp they have , not sure if a remap will do the gearbox any good as they run the smaller box

Ours has a deck weight on all the time to which won't help but I'm not sure the weight makes masses of difference when your pulling a full load is only a small percentage.

The vario makes it feel slower because it never revs that hard and maybe because your trying to get to a higher top speed?

If you've not used a vario much before they take a bit of playing with to get the best out them .

I've not done any haulage work when I had the fastrac on demo but it pulls very well in the field.

I'm used to JD autopower and it's great you don't need to play with any settings but every other one I've tried you need to play with engine drop etc to get the best out of it
