Tinnitus and throat problem.

Tinnitus in left ear, had it for about 2 years, could live with that but now when swallowing there is a sort of annoying click in my voice box area and a slight pain in the left hand side of my throat on same side as tinnitus ear and a bit of tightness in my throat. Stuck my gearbox boroscope in left ear hole and no wax build up, can see ear drum and there is a white patch on it extending in from the edge. Went to doc about the tinnitus 3 years ago and he said it was a virus but this is same bloke who prescribed lemsip to my mate who went down with TB and misdiagnosed my dads fatal brain tumour as just a bit of vertigo Still not had second jab but will make appointment when I’ve had it. Any ideas while I wait for our “wonderful NHS”. Thanks.

I really have absolutely no faith in them to be honest after recent experiences with family. All they succeeded in doing was making the last months of life a total misery. Hope I die in the beet field with my boots on like granddad rather than get mauled about by those hero’s. Patients are just a fecking inconvenience to them from what I’ve seen. Rant over.

Go private is one option. The other is take an odourless Garlic tablet every day.
I always was choked up and could never breathe through my nose but that cured it. Was a throwback after studying the effects of Garlic in the mix I sell.
PS I am very averse to pills except that one plus occasional zinc for prostate.

Tell your gp that you want to be referred to a private consultant. A couple of hundred quid to fast forward onto a constant and get the ball moving. Consultant can assess thing properly then do any scans through NHS again if you wish.

Have a look on youtube on neck stretches and improving posture its worth a go. A lot of ear issues are due to muscles, nerves, neck issue etc. America seems to be much more advanced so look at anything you can do with stretching.

I agree forget the wonderful NHS and pay for a private consult tell yr GP to do letter. Could have MRIs etc.

Any pain when swallowing? I had earache and pain in throat when swallowing - thought it was tonsillitis so pushed on for a couple of months - turned out to be tonsil cancer - thankfully caught and treated in time for recovery - get it checked!

I am trying to access my NHS GP service as first port of call. Have used askmyGP once I got it set up. They shut it off at 2pm everyday and you can only phone them for emergencies. It's slow, very slow. They are supposed to be contacting me, sometime. Will it be on the landline or the mobile or email? Don't know? There just doesn't seem to be one focal contact point where I can see or update my details. But you can bet the moment I leave the office they will ring the land line. All I need is for somebody to look in my throat and say yay or nay. I will give them till lunch time but then I absolutely need to be outside again. Worn out with it. All the NHS seems to do is add to the stress. Best just crack on till I can't crack on no more. I suppose if they are interested they will let me know, sooner or later. Done what I can.

Lower leg calf area swelled up last week , thought insect bite, but nasty, better ring doctors, appointment to see nurse who immediately said looks like a blood clot calf shouldn't be that hard, suggested I go to a & e. I then sat down and suggested she look again, at which point she changes her mind, its now not a bloodclot but a nasty bite. Calf not so solid sat down.
I said I do alot of cycling, aah that's why calf is firm then says nurse.!!!!!!!!

Another thing that causes throat & ear issues it the neck bones - ie arthritis. As I have now (at last) been diagnosed with spondylitis with spurs on bones L2 - L6 the research I am doing finding a lot of my issues are used by the spiral column & nerves. If any spurs are growing on the side of the spinal column these push on the neck/throat. Any nerves pinched can cause issues in the throat to ears. So much I am reading is def pointing to neck issues.

Well I tried askmy GP at the local surgery and without even looking at me they said its a "mechanical" problem but didn't expand on that. So I have lost interest in it and got used to the tinnitus and dodgy throat. Actually I have noticed some other peculiar neck problems. Sometimes if I turn my head to look left, my neck locks and its an effort to turn it back to centre and it makes a crunch or a click getting back there.
I have also had a stye in my upper eye lid for three months since getting a barley awn in it. Doc says it will need a minor op to shift it unless it bursts before then. Anyway, there is a month waiting list for the eye clinic and I was in considerable pain so I scraped at it with my finger nail the other night. Not sure what happened but lots of blood and it feels a hell of a lot better as it isn't grazing my eyeball every time I blink. Still there though but smaller. Hope it disappears completely before my appointment under the knife. The doc reckons he can do it in the back of the surgery as he got a certificate or something but the way his hands shake I reckon it would end up being a glass eye for Christmas.

L2-L6 are nowhere near the neck. They are lower back.

Just a slight aside.

Join an organisation like benenden health care trust.

It's not private medical insurance, and they don't do real major stuff.
BUT they have 24 hr GP helplines, mental health too, and if the wait is too long on NHS they can step in and see you privately.
And for an absolute minimal amount every month.
You do have to be a member for 6 months to get full access, but there's no medicals or pre existing conditions not covered.
Well worth looking into.

Any issues with neck, eyes, ears is all cervical only a rheumatologist can request an MRI. Ask Gp to send letter to local private consult and go from there I only had to wait 6 weeks for an MRI after being told. If you want NHS could be waiting 12 months or so. The GP was pretty clueless with my head pressure. On this occasion with endless calls and demands she wrote to the local consultant who organised an MRI without seeing him. No time to waste.
