Started the day putting Mn on the Wheats, some patches were desperate for it. Had a few eventful moments, think I’ll have to put the wide tyres on before I go through them again

Finished ploughing the beet land despite a puncture in the plough,a bearing on the press, changing points and loading pigs.

It's a bit dusty. I have to wait till I go back across the field to know if all is well.

The old chap was chasing me, he would of got all done but ran short of seed so he's got to wait till the morning for the fieldsman to drop some more off. They're going into a lovely warm moist seed bed so should soon be through.

Picked up the 4600 last week

Dad also got a new toy - 1942 Standard Fordson. Bit old for me but he only gave £800 for it. I think the elderly bloke took a shine to my dad and wanted it going to a good home

Tyre fitters came other day. Sanderson had a slow puncture in rear tyre. Cabless Universal went onto better rear rims. Cabbed Universal went on original GoodYears at back and 4000 also went on originals GoodYears at back.

Been on with making door frames this week. Plus running of a load of tounge and groove boarding which is the most soul destroying job going

Got tomorrow of. I'm at Cambridge sale Saturday picking up bits and dropping bits of.

Going down tomorrow and spending Friday night near the centre of London due to a bloke buying two oil cabinets from me and wanting them delivered. So the nights on him :D

Spent tonight loading up for a 6am start

Enjoy the sun guys!

Universal tractors.

Don’t see 2 at the same place very often.
I have a 640dt. 4*4 still the main tractor on our Farm after 33 years. It’s a old V reg and I can’t kill it lol. (Probably could but don’t want too. Lol )
Only ever had 1 clutch (2years ago). And a head gasket through no fault of its own.
(Its 4 cylinder with 2 heads and the water core plugs rotted out between them so was a tossup which head to take off Sod’s law I chose the wrong 1.)
Other than that it’s been a good bus. Starts on the button every time and never argues back with I’ve got a electrical problem. Lol.
Probably averages around 400 hours a year too.
Does anyone know anywhere for parts to maybe restore it a little 1 day.

Back in the 70s/ 80s they were 10 apeny around our way as they were 4 wheel drive and excelent on the hills. And 4*4 was a rarity back then.
I can only think of another 2 around our way now.

P.s. sorry to harp on ppl
Lol

Is that land just ploughed and pressed then straight on with drill?
Must be good soil

Started work tonight ripping out a cundie. Sadly not up to carrying the amount of water it needs to any more. Quite incredible how this was constructed all by hand and the amount of stone required all hauled by horse and cart. Brand new 13 ton Hitachi with rotating head, very impressive bit of kit which saves so much time reducing the amount the digger needs to move

We've had the cabless one since new (1976) it came with a Duncan cab which we still have but took it of in the early 90's. It's needed nothing other than tyres and battery's

The other one I bought 6 months ago from a farm sale where he had had it from new (1972) it's cosmetically very good original but mechanically not as good as our original.

Yes there's still a few spots in mainly Wales that you can still get most of the parts for. D D Thomas been the main one

Tidy ploughing if you can drill straight in. You won’t lose much moisture too.:)(y)
