600kg of leeks and 240kg of purple sprouting broccoli delivered today has brought our 23/24 veg season to a close. It’s been a long hard year but much better than the previous one so a glass or two were emptied this evening.

Tipping a few yows and lambs into the one field with a 'bite'. This was taken on Tuesday when it was nice. There are now 13 outfits in there. No pictures of the gateway 🫣 Went big time today with 7 lambing 😲 Plus a prolapse 🤨

Surprise surprise, the weather turned to crap tonight. The hardy hill breed decided to have a night in 🙄

How long were they on the ground, doesn't seem long since they were pictured up in rows?

they were planted on 5 / 6 January.

Mungs are a very quick, 90 day, crop, which makes them ideal for a double crop situation, or to fit another crop into the rotation.
The plan is that either wheat or barley will be planted here in June ( harvested in Nov / Dec ), giving me 2 cash crops in a 12 month period

After work this week been replacing an old collapsed one with 138m of 4” twin wall. Resembled paschendale at one point and I did get the excavator stuck last night. Which involves copious amounts of swearing, sleepers and logs. Dad did ask how we get the timber out I said in about July 2030 when it’s dried up :) but he could go and drag them out if he was that concerned, he decided the random old bits of timber weren’t suddenly that important :)

The 6930 hadn’t been out of the shed since the end of October so i took it on a run to bring another bunch of ewe lambs home,150+ in the shed now, hopefully it will give the ground a chance to recover.

Also keep adding to the nursery yard hoping for some dry weather, only got 2 left to lamb.

And I also took a creep out to the oldest lambs as the weather is taking its toll and they are looking

stale.
